Beetles and eggs and blues and pour a little everything else
You steam a lens stable eyes and glass
Not get pissed off through my bird lips as good news
Still we can find our love down from behind
Down far behind this fabulous, my turn rules
Beetles and eggs and blues and bells and eggs and then blued
Beetles and eggs and blues and pour a little everything else
You steam a lens stable eyes and glass
Not get pissed off through my bird lips as good news
You'll hang the hearts black and dull as the night
We hanged your pass and start being as you in ecstasy
Still being cried and laughed at before
Should I be sewn in hugged I can by not saying
Still being cried and laughed at from light to blue
And should I be hugged and tugged down through this tiger's masque
And should I be sung and unbroken by not saying
You mind not saying
He'll hang that heart's black and dull as the night
Still being cried and laughed at from behind me
We hanged your pass and star being as you in ecstasy (from gains)
Still being cried and laughed at from behind me
Should I be sung and unbroken by not saying (from gains)
Still being cried and laughed at from behind me
Hugged and tugged down through this tiger's masque for key (from gains)

My name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you've seen me before
If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble, some kind of fight
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
I think it's because I'm clumsy
I try not to talk too loud
Maybe it's because I'm crazy
I try not to act too proud
They only hit until you cry
And after that you don't ask why
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore
Yes I think I'm okay
I walked into the door again
If you ask that's what I'll say
And it's not your business anyway
I guess I'd like to be alone
With nothing broken, nothing thrown
Just don't ask me how I am
Just don't ask me how I am
Just don't ask me how I am
My name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you've seen me before
If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble, some kind of fight
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
They only hit until you cry
And after that you don't ask why
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore
You just don't argue anymore

I've seen everything imaginable
Pass before these eyes
I've had everything that's tangible
Honey you'd be surprised
I'm a sexual innuendo
In this burned out paradise
If you turn me on to anything
You better turn me on tonight
Here I am
And you're a rocket queen
I might be a little young but honey I ain't naive
Here I am and you're a rocket queen, oh yeah
I might be too much
But honey you're a bit obscene
I see you standin'
Standin' on your own
It's such a lonely place for you
For you to be
If you need a shoulder
Or if you need a friend
I'll be here standing
Until the bitter end
No one needs the sorrow
No one needs the pain
I hate to see you
Walking out there
Out in the rain
So don't chastise me
Or think I, I mean you harm
Of those that take you leave you strung out
Much too far
Don't ever leave me
Say you'll always be there
All I ever wanted
Was for you
To know that I care

It was late at night
You held on tight
From an empty seat
A flash of light
It will take a while
To make you smile
Somewhere in these eyes
I'm on your side
You wide-eyed girls
You get it right
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Tender is the night
For a broken heart
Who will dry your eyes
When it falls apart?
What makes this fragile world go round?
Were you ever lost?
Was she ever found?
Somewhere in these eyes
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back into place
Fall back in...

about
Inside the package / L'intérieur de l'emballage (by Fernanda Castilho, translated by Maria Bitarello)
A compilation of versions of songs by Erik Satie, Cocteau Twins, Guns N’ Roses, Suzanne Vega and Beach House. Ranging from classical music and post-rock to dream pop and shoegaze, Alles Club (or the “club for all things”) injects its essence into old songs and reminds us that artistic and musical making is, above all, recreating – “half of it, myself; the other half, others”.
As we unwrap, a version of Gnossienne No. 1, a piano composition by late 19th century Frenchman Erik Satie, is shredded then remodelled. This reinterpretation combines concerto music with Alles Club’s unique experimentalist and post-rocker trait: a powerful mix of pulsating drums and the cello’s thickness of body with a layered mesh of guitar sounds. Cherry-Coloured Funk, a classic dream-pop tune by Scottish Cocteau Twins, is transformed into a slow and melancholicic ballad, with the voices of Stéphanie and Nina accompanied by wavy guitars buzz and Baapz' saxophone melody. Luka, a hit song by singer Suzanne Vega that touches on domestic violence, reincarnates here in a tender lullaby. But no track falls as far from the original tree as Rocket Queen (Guns N’ Roses), which sheds its fierce and restless tone to make room for a mysterious and gentle aura. And lastly, Space Song (Beach House) builds on becoming more organic and hypnotically expands the chorus, “fall back into place”.
Versions, new packages
In conversation, members Rodrigo and Stephanie reflect back on the recording of the versions found in Emballage: “I think playing covers in shows and recording them in an album is a major musical exercise because you have to dive deep into the composer’s mind and you get to see every little detail in there”, says guitarist Rodrigo. Stephanie adds: “I think it’s a fun feature. Especially when a band picks out a song that’s distant from its own universe and brings it home”. Both say it was not the band’s initial intention to record an album of versions; most of the songs compiled in Emballage are from a different era, but with a common thread: the Alles Club “footprint”.
The very first recorded version was Luka, when couple Rodrigo Lopes and Nina Hübscher were starting a new musical project, back in 2012, and which would later birth Alles Club. “Luka started out as an exercise because I wanted to learn how to record, how to mess with the audio production softwares, and at the time I didn't have any composition of my own at hand”, reveals Lopes. Rocket Queen version was specially recorded in 2017 for a compilation in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the album Appetite For Destruction, which was named Appetite For Deconstruction and features the band Martiataka and the musician Marcelo Callado.
Then, they produced and recorded Gnossienne No. 1, which would initially compose a soundtrack for a film. Cherry-Coloured Funk was suggested by Stéphanie as a song for their setlist during the tour of the album Décollage, in 2019. Space Song was, at first, a surprise from Rodrigo and Nina to the band, which later gained collaborations from the other members, a chunk of each until they reached the final version.
